A Lie

I have never lied to you
I won't ever hide the truth.
Trust me when I say this now
I won't ever let you down.

I'll admit it, I'll confess,
My heart is heavy; my head's a mess.
Searching high and low each day,
Only trying to find my way.

I've told a lie to no one else,
I've told a lie to just myself.

I catch another fallen tear
By a thread my soul's in tact
I question if I'm standing here
One, two, three steps back,
Stumble down, heart attack,
But I tell the world it's just a scratch.

I thank God, and the heavens above,
Try to be grateful for all He does.
At times I struggle; at times I crash,
This world, it moves way too fast.

I can't keep up with how it is,
I can't forget; I can't forgive.
All I can really do or say,
Is tell myself that I'm ok.

Often times, I feel just fine,
But sometimes I tell a lie.

I catch another fallen tear
By a thread my soul's in tact
I question if I'm standing here
One, two, three steps back,
Stumble down, heart attack,
I tell the world it's just a scratch.

Everything will be all right,
Sleep it off; sleep tonight.
The morning might be sunny bright
Sleep tonight; we're all right.
